Donaghue Investigators

Donaghue Investigator Program is aimed at supporting particularly promising medical researchers holding academic appointments at Connecticut institutions. The Foundation recognizes the practical value to society of making an ongoing investment in the development of highly talented researchers; therefore the focus of this award is on the Investigator and his or her program of research rather than a specific investigation.

Begun as a ten-year initiative in 1998, the program marked its final year of Investigator grant selections in 2007.  Support of current Donaghue Investigators will continue through 2012.

Twenty-nine Donaghue Investigator awards have been made by the Foundation. Each Donaghue Investigator receives $100,000 each year for 5 years, for a total award of $500,000 (plus 10% to cover indirect expenses and a 4% annual cost of living increase).

See Grants Awarded for a listing of Donaghue Investigator award winners and A Passion for Discovery for a summary of their research programs.
