What is the Nurse-Family Partnership and why is there a Replication office?

Peggy Hill, Director of Program Development at the Nurse-Family Partnership's (NFP) National Replication Office was the guest speaker at a half-day educational seminar titled "Getting from Research to Practice: A case study in scaling up from research trial to national replication."

The session co-sponsored by Donaghue, along with the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation's CARE (Community Alliance for Research and Engagement) and the University of Connecticut's TRIPP (Translating Research into Practice and Policy) Center, was held at Yale's Greenberg Center In November 2009.

Ms. Hill presented the experience she and her colleagues have had in replicating David Olds' research on mentoring programs for low-income, first-time mothers. What first began as a research trial over 20 years ago, the NFP now serves families in 28 states.

NFP has proven to deliver positive short and long-term outcomes for first time mothers and their children in many settings throughout the US.

Ms. Hill gave an overview of the NFP's evolution and recounted the lessons that have been learned along the way. Ms. Hill highlighted several aspects of NFP's "scaling up" experience that audience members could relate to and learn from. To download Ms Hill's presentation slides click here.
